Covid-19, one year on

For all of us, this has been an unprecedented twelve months. It’s hard to believe that we haven’t been able to go about our normal lives for so long. We were undoubtedly complacent as a nation, and it’s only when we are deprived of the things we take for granted – going to the pub, hanging out with friends, going on holiday, having a hug with your dad in his care home – that we start to take stock.

At Snorestore, we acted even before the first national lockdown, to protect our staff. We furloughed some, on full pay, we re-arranged shifts so no more than one person was in the office at one time, and we restricted our interactions with couriers, postal workers, and stuck strictly to all the hygiene guidelines. We enrolled in the Covid-19 testing programme early on and that is ongoing. The NHS is marvellous.

Amongst the key workers who have done so much, Royal Mail staff are amazing. In the whole year, not a single Snorestore order has gone missing. We do get customers saying theirs hasn’t arrived, but in every single case, the item has turned up, or in one case, the customer gave us an incorrect address and the item was returned to Snorestore as undeliverable. This is an incredible effort by Royal Mail at every level, from collection to delivery and we are very grateful to those who have helped us keep Snorestore running.

Looking ahead, we have grounds for optimism that we *are* going to see a return to normal in the next 12 months. Yes, we believe it will take at least that long. For Snorestore and our amazing customers who have stayed so loyal and so supportive, this will mean being able to turn round orders quickly, get them out to you quickly and see them delivered quickly. Longer term, we are looking to move to new premises and we will of course keep you updated.

In the meantime, we sincerely hope that you are well, have recovered, and will now stay well. Vaccines are wonderful things. Do please get the jab.

For those we have lost, we remember them with love and sadness. None of us will come out of this unscathed. We are all changed, forever.
