… must come to an end. Including good relations with the boss. He has just sent us a picture. Of his holiday. So while we’re slaving away, he’s having the time of his life. In Montreux. Sick as parrots? Just wait until he gets back.

When half the office is on holiday, as they are this week, it’s asking a lot of the remaining staff to do the holidaymakers’ jobs as well as their own.
So what we usually do is reduce the range of items available on the website. They’re not out of stock and will be restored to full availability once the office is fully staffed once again. In this case that will be October 27th.
In the same vein, we change our shipping arrangements. We cut the options down to the basics (no Special Delivery for example) and we don’t promise to despatch within one working day.
In this way, we keep our staff and our customers reasonably content.

Last night’s rant sounds as if we hate you all. We don’t, we really don’t. We think we shouldn’t let the odd irritation get us down.

So to lift our spirits ahead of another busy day, we’re gazing longingly at this – the most calming place in the whole world.

Webcam in Monthey, Switzerland

We had a webcam in the office for a while, a few months back. The boss thought it would be a good gimmick for our customers. But we thought different. I mean, do our visitors really need to see what we look like or what we’re doing at any moment of the day (or night)? There is a limit to how much drama you can create out of typing at a keyboard, answering the phone or making the coffee.
After we turned the camera round so it was looking at the office bird feeder (yes, really), the boss changed his mind and removed the dratted thing. Quite where it is now we dread to think. So long as it’s not spying on us, we don’t really care.
We now content ourselves with watching other people’s webcams. This one is one of our favourites.
