Working late

The theory goes, that if you work late, you get an easier day the next day. But that’s arrant nonsense. If there’s so much to do that you end up doing overtime, then surely you’re still going to have to achieve just as much all over again when the new day dawns. Either that or we’re just really really slow workers.
We do work late here, often. You know the kind of thing: filing (not just our nails), stock-taking, doing the paperwork, real heady stuff it is. The boss of course, just swans in now and again with a glass of something red and expensive in his hand and tells us we’re doing a grand job, a reet grand job. Exploited, us? Never.

Webcams

Webcam in Monthey, Switzerland

We had a webcam in the office for a while, a few months back. The boss thought it would be a good gimmick for our customers. But we thought different. I mean, do our visitors really need to see what we look like or what we’re doing at any moment of the day (or night)? There is a limit to how much drama you can create out of typing at a keyboard, answering the phone or making the coffee.
After we turned the camera round so it was looking at the office bird feeder (yes, really), the boss changed his mind and removed the dratted thing. Quite where it is now we dread to think. So long as it’s not spying on us, we don’t really care.
We now content ourselves with watching other people’s webcams. This one is one of our favourites.

What we like

Sometimes we get phone calls which literally take our breath away. Today, for example, a recent customer called and after demanding to speak to “the owner” (who wasn’t here), proceeded to rant in the most glorious over the top terms about how wonderful we are.
If we could have got a word in edgeways, we would have thanked her for her generous sentiments. But she didn’t pause for breath, not once, and before we had a chance to tell her how much we like positive feedback, there was that unforgiving click click brr and she was gone.
Whoever you were, we’re really pleased we exceeded your expectations. It’s nice to be appreciated.
Sometimes we send people a little extra something just for making us feel good about ourselves. But if we don’t know who you are, we can’t!

Early days

Early days indeed. Snorestore’s never had a blog before. The sole aim of this ‘ere blog is to give us something to do when we’re not working. Actually we’ll probably be writing even when we should be working. Let’s hope the boss doesn’t notice. Or the customers, for that matter.
