ZenPlugs was born of necessity. Dr Toby Bateson found the earpieces on his stethoscopes unreliable, repeatedly falling off and splitting. They were also uncomfortable and didn’t fit his ears properly.

This led him to make his own stethoscope earpieces, simply moulding them in his ear from thermoplastic. He found them very comfortable and reliable and is still using them every day almost a year later. Many of his colleagues saw him using the earpieces and asked him for a set. He quickly realised the potential of the earpieces and so founded ZenPlugs so that others could enjoy them as much he did.

Having tested and developed the process and materials it became clear that the earpieces could be adapted for other applications such as earplugs and earphones for MP3 players. The ZenPlugs earplugs are the first product to become available, the stethoscope earpieces and the MP3 earphones are still undergoing development and testing and will be available soon.

*for once, this oft- and over-used claim (on other less-reputable websites, of course!) actually stands up. Dr. Bateson is a doctor in a busy A&E department in a general hospital in Cornwall.
