Custom Fit FAQs

In theory your ProGuard earplugs will last a lifetime if given gentle loving care. Unfortunately our bodies change over the course of time and our ears are part of that process. So, the manufacturers recommend that you have new impressions done approximately every couple of years to ensure the integrity of the custom fit and to keep your hearing health in first class order.

ProGuard guarantees the fit! If your finished earplugs do not fit satisfactorily, ProGuard will re-make the earplugs at no cost to you.

As far as the music custom plugs are concerned, this depends on the coloured filter choice you make. The green filter is ideal for normal loud music or clubs etc but if you are listening for long periods at extreme levels then the red filter could be a better choice. If you are concerned about which one to use then please email ProGuard or call them on 0870 901 6070 and they will advise you.
The filter itself is designed to preserve the acoustic integrity of the music content, so basically it will be like turning the volume down on your Hi-Fi system or MP3 player.
With custom fitted earplugs for sleeping, it isn't possible to give a precise noise reduction rating as each earplug is individual. However, the reduction will be comparable to a well-fitting off-the-peg earplug, in the region of 30dB.

All ProGuard custom fit products will require custom ear impressions, so if you are buying any custom product, then your own personal ear impressions are required. Custom earplugs will always fit properly and will not put pressure on your ear canal to form a seal because they are fitted exactly to the contours of your ears.

When you buy a ProGuard custom product it includes an option to get your ear impressions done locally to you once you have registered your purchase with ProGuard. All the details are in the box. Once the impressions have been made, slip them into the box and pre-paid bag (included in original purchase) and send them straight back to the lab for processing. You will receive your finished custom earplugs in approximately 14 days from the time the lab receives the impressions.

The manufacturers use a very special medical grade of translucent soft silicone which is strong, non-sticky, very smooth to touch and extremely comfortable if worn for long periods of time. It is very easy to insert into the ear canal. Also included in the ProGuard kit is some lubricant to help with insertion if necessary.
